Hi folks! As you can imagine, losing your pet, is every bit like losing a family member! So, of course, panic and confusion are the first things that hit you. And, they are powerful! In fact, so powerful that they can overwhelm you! At a time like that, you need some help and the Humane Society employees moved quickly and effortlessly into that understanding and compassionate role. The first thing they did, was to express how their concern was as great as our own and gave assurance that everything possible would be done to rescue our pet. After a thorough record creation on our pet was carefully done, the staff walked us through their kennels to make certain that we felt satisfied that our pet hadn't been found by animal control and brought there. I was very impressed with their concerned and helpful demeanor, but I was blown away by the condition of their facility! The stalls were all very clean. The animals had fresh food and water. Each had a soft bed and blanket and something to play with, were clean and seemed relaxed and at ease with finding themselves in an unfamiliar place, amongst unfamiliar people, as if they knew they were being helped by them. And, of course, we were very concerned about our pets state of fear and anxiety, so that was really helpful in easing our fears about that. I have to say that, after we left there we felt much better about the odds we would get her back, in good condition because we had the Humane Society in our corner Those people were absolutely great! They're 100% dedicated to these animals and their welfare, without the slightest recognition for doing so, that I can see! That's why I'm writing this review! Not only because I owe it to them but because I believe that most people would recognize it too, if they only had the chance to see them doing it, so selflessly! My pet is home! We found her! They didn't! But they were efforting to, every bit as hard as we were and I thank them for their efforts and most of all for their hearts! In my humble opinion, they are the very people who SHOULD BE doing, what they are doing! Thanks for your time. G. P. C.

We found our now 8 month old kitty here. We wanted to get a friend for our other cat Suki as her best friend got out last year and I just unfortunately never made it back to us. We adopted Court (now Jax) about 3 months ago and we love him soo much! He’s the best even with some funny quirks. The shelter gave us clear instructions on how to introduce a new cat to the family and it worked! It took a lot of time and patience, but they said it probably would. The cats are really starting to get along and become buddies. The staff here were very helpful in finding the right fit for us. They are super friendly and knowledgeable! The adoption process was a little slow and stressful. We had to wait 2 hours to talk to someone and then another week for him to get neutered. But, I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing. It weeds out the people who aren’t really ready and shouldn’t adopt on a whim. Overall, I think they are doing the best they can and we are very grateful!

I love my new pup! The staff here is wonderful a well. The wait list takes a while, but there is plenty to do in the area while you wait. Once you are in, it can be a quick process and a one-stop adopt if you have everything you need.

Dear Tacoma Humane Society, I just wanted to send a sincere thank you for the care, compassion, and dedication you give to every animal that comes through your doors — especially Muffin and Pebbles. These two have brought so much love, laughter, and healing into my life. I don’t know their full story before me, but I know that thanks to you, they had a safe place until we found each other. Every cuddle, every goofy moment, every quiet look of trust — I carry it with deep gratitude for the work you do. You gave them a chance. And in doing so, you gave me a gift I’ll never be able to fully put into words. Thank you for everything you do — for Muffin, for Pebbles, and for all the lives you help change, both furry and human. With love, DANIELLE
