At Richmond Coach & Mortuary, we care about making a difference in Richmond for families who are going through the death of a loved one.
My MIL passed recently and we struggled with finding a place to have her cremated, one that was decent but also *affordable* and didn't charge an arm and a leg just to say our goodbyes before having her cremated. Richmond Coacb was recommended by another local place, and we are so glad we decided to go with them. Kathy and her team were amazing. The environment is very warm and welcoming, even if there for unfortunate circumstances. They cleaned up our loved one and made her look absolutely beautiful and covered her with a gorgeous quilt. I would 100% recommend them time & time again. Thank you, Kathy & team.
Worst experience ever. My two sociopathic siblings called Kathy the funeral director and created a bunch of lies and Kathy just believed them and proceeded to be very mean to me on the phone based off those lies. I was FORCED to cremate my Mom which I did not want to, and was told by Kathy I had time to find money for burial. When I asked how long, she said I’ll keep her until you get the money. That was not a clear answer but I trusted her since they have such good reviews. Now she called me and said you on have only two days to get the money and was very rude and unsympathetic. She never called to warn me that there was a deadline, she never asked or called me to prepare me of this change. My daughter got on the phone to explain and she was not even hearing her. As a professional in this business knowing emotions are high, you have to be kind and empathetic. She made me feel like scum of the earth, like we had no money and wasn’t going to pay anything which simply wasn’t true and she didn’t even hear me out to understand. I’m traumatized by this situation and this funeral home. Please be careful. People now a days only care about money. Sadly I was going to write a good review but it changed when I was treat like dirt. Kathy needs some lessons on how to be a kind funeral director, and not to immediately believe everything she hears but to listen to all sides. That’s what a good funeral director would do, they are trained in family conflicts and empathy.
If you are reading this, you are probably going through a difficult time and wondering how to respectfully and affordably have a loved one’s body prepared and cremated so that you can lovingly hold on to them as a lasting remembrance until you are reunited one day. Look no further…. This business is top notch! From beginning to end, Kathy and Ashley took care of everything I needed for my Mom’s cremation and went above and beyond to educate me and assist me. From the first call, Kathy was clear on their services for cremation and what was provided for their flat fee. There was no up-sale or pressure. We knew my Mother’s time was limited so she got right to me with paperwork before hand so I didn’t have to wait until her passing when I would likely be an emotional wreck to answer the necessary questions and complete the forms. When the time came, Dylon and another gentlemen were excellent when they picked my mom up. They were dressed in suits, even though it was the wee hours of the morning, and they were respectful and showed so much care for her body. Once on site, Kathy and Ashley kept me updated on every step and gave great advice to questions I had. My Mother’s remains were prepared quickly and provided respectfully. They even posted her obituary for me which got updated to prominent obituary sites that would have cost me $150. They didn’t hound me about payment but I did pay them promptly because this is a business that’s providing a service - from reviews of this and other similar businesses, I think some people expect that, since this is a sensitive time, that funeral homes and cremation people should be more understanding about payments but their prices are far less than others for the same services you would receive for more money and they have costs (pick up, examiner, actual cremation) and need to be compensated in a reasonable timeframe. I will definitely recommend this business to others and I’m so glad I chose them!
Lost my father unexpectedly and Richmond Coach was recommended by a family member. They were so kind and helpful everytime we spoke to them. It was such a breath of fresh air after poor experiences with the hospital and medical examiners office. They were also the most cost effective option in our local area and I never once felt like they were just trying to make a sale or up sell a service.
All the people I spoke with and met were easy to work with. They handled all aspects of the job quickly and properly, and the cost was modest. I will no look no further the next time I need such services.
