E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory

I recently brought my cat to them to be cremated. Before they took him I asked for scissors to cut his whiskers as it wasn’t something they offered and I wanted. On the website it advertises a certificate, a fur clipping, and ashes in a temporary container. I didn’t cut his fur as it was apart of the package. When I arrived the bag only held my cat’s temporary urn and the certificate. I walked back and asked if it had been replaced and said they would call back when they had more information by latest the next day. We hadn’t heard anything by 2pm so I called since they close at 5pm. They didn’t take the clipping like the package said and cremated him. He may just be a cat but he’s irreplaceable. When I got hysterical with Nick on the phone about the situation, he hung up on me, he also was the person who cremated my cat. When my partner called we were told there was video of us clipping fur which is a lie. All we took is whiskers. I really feel like this funeral home does not care as much as they say they do and I say this as a funeral service student.

You did an excellent job. All the staff is so kind and helpful. Victoria helped me with my Mother. She is wonderful. Made me feel so comfortable. I'm so appreciative for the care I received during that difficult time. Thank you.

E. alvin was very caring and understanding in my time of needing to coordinating get my father from Texas to Virginia with my mother. They did everything possible with keeping updated and when he was in his final place. I thank you so much for you compassionate team. CR

E.Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory gave me and my family a very nice and pleasant meeting with them for the situation. They toke very good care of my husband. Gave us a lot information on the cremation we were getting, didn't try to be a salesperson and get us to buy a Urn from them. Before my father passed away, he wrote some instructions on what he wanted us to do, and one of them was to contact E. Alvin Small. Now I understand why. They handled everything with professionalism and compassion, explaining in detail things we didn't understand, and have even reached out weeks later to check on how we're doing.
