Known for their professional, respectful, kind approach, they offer private cremation services and communal cremation options. As one family shared: "My treasured mare died on the surgery table at a local equine hospital...." With a 3.7-star rating,
My treasured mare died on the surgery table at a local equine hospital. Chenault was recommended as a cremation service as they are nearby, in the same town. I requested individual cremation through the veterinary hospital where she died. That was 9 days ago. I have yet to hear anything from Chenault though I have called numerous times. No one has answered the phone. Or answered my message. The equine hospital billed me $1,500+ for the cremation but no one can tell me anything in terms of when the cremains can be picked up. I find this frustrating and blatantly inconsiderate. Feels like pure business, no care or decency here. When my 38 year-old horse passed away on the farm, I used Agape Cremation. They answered their phones immediately, kept me in the loop as to how the process was proceeding, and I had the cremains within a week. They were kind and professional. I now wish I had used Agape services for my mare. Given the lack of communication, nonexistent attention to customer care and the amount of time that has elapsed, I highly doubt that the cremains I receive will be those of my own horse, though I paid for individual cremation. Moreover, Chenault charged me twice what I paid Agape, for a horse the same size (cost is based upon weight). I am former veterinary lab technician who worked for the then-president of the American Animal Hospital Association some years ago, before returning to school. Starting out, I was initially the weekend kennel manager. As such, my job responsibilities included operating the crematory and properly cremating individual deceased, beloved pets for their grieving owners. Proper procedure and process was always carried out in a timely and respectful manner. Nothing like what I am subject to with the Chenault cremation Business. In summary, one is better off to use the Agape service, located in Richmond, if an animal you love and cherish has passed away and cremation is preferred. Agape will be respectful, communicative and timely.
My experience was positive during this sad time. They were helpful and accommodating. I purchased an urn which was shipped to me. The shipment was rapid and the quality of the urn was very good.
