If you are looking for a respectful and compassionate place to memorialize your baby, Agape should be your first call. My baby of almost 18 years passed away and the vet offered the after care for him in the form of cremation. I chose the private cremation service along with the cedar box and paw print. Even dealing with the fact I could no longer hold him and be with him each day was devastating enough and then the worry about the quality of care for him after his passing started to scare me. The day after his passing I contacted Agape in Sandston who would be taking my sweet Princeton from the vet. Samantha talked me through the whole process and discussed even more I had not been aware of that Agape offers. I was able to drive down to their office, hold my baby again in the private visitation room, stay through the cremation in the waiting area, and then leave with him the same day. Samantha was so comforting and kind. It is so hard to lose a loved one and to know that your whole life will have a void your baby once filled; that cannot be overstated. When going through that though, to have somewhere like Agape who has a team of compassionate, professional people caring for our babies at the end helps ease a deeply painful time. I am grateful for Samantha and the whole Agape team for getting Princeton to Agape safely, allowing me to spend more time with him before his cremation, then preparing him to come home to me with integrity and love.
I am very happy with Agape Pet Services. They have provided cremation services for two of my beloved dogs, and I have been very touched by the memorial products each time. I lost my best friend unexpectedly on Sunday- I received his remains today (Thursday). My Jasper's paw print box is beautiful and the little bag of his fur is very touching and unexpected. His ashes came in a lovely wooden box with his name on a gold plate. He passed at an emergency vet, and I didn't select any specific products. I was a little worried about what I was going to receive, but I am very happy with what Agape provided. They also provide grief counseling services. I felt very supported throughout the process.
I wanted to be sure to find the best place for our unfortunate needs; And so, made multiple phone calls that morning. Once speaking with Samantha at Agape, I knew they were the ones and wish they had just been the first call. From answering the phone through collection of remains, I felt the compassion and professionalism of folks responsible for a family member, not just a “pet”. If you find yourself in need of such unfortunate service, Agape is where I placed my faith and I am completely satisfied that my girl received proper and respectful attention.
My dog was euthanized at home and taken to Agape by Capital Home Vet who arranged everything for me. I chose my preferences for an urn and an ink paw print ahead of time and chose to be contacted when the cremation was complete to pick up the remains myself. The option for shipping was provided as well. I was contacted by Agape about a week after I said goodbye to my pet, and immediately went to pick up his remains. The compassion of the team at Agape was evident and I can't thank them enough for their kindness and respect. I was given a beautiful urn that was carefully placed inside a bag for carrying and provided with a certificate of cremation and the ink pawprint I requested, safely placed in an envelope. I was very pleased with the professionalism and the beautiful presentation of my best friend. Thank you for your care and compassion, Agape Pet Services.
Losing a pet is already an incredibly sad and difficult process. This company tries to make it as easy as possible, which I appreciate, but there was oversight and miscommunication with the veterinary providers and clients. I lost my best friend on Friday evening; the vet that visited my home for euthanasia informed me and my mother that Agape would likely not reach out until Monday since it was a Friday evening but that I could expect an email where I can order additional memorial items, such as a paw or nose print. I went into this process knowing that I specially wanted a nose print and we even reached out to confirm this was something we could get before proceeding. When I did not have an email by the end of day Monday, I became concerned. We reached out first thing Tuesday morning, as they were already closed Monday when I was off of work, and were informed that the cremation had already taken place the day prior and thus I was unable to receive any memorial items. We found out later that an email from them had been sent to my mother's email- not mine, as instructed to Agape by the vet- Thursday night and was in her junk folder. I am beyond devastated by this. There was a lack of appropriate communication from Agape with both the clients and the veterinary providers. I understand that mistakes can happen but this is a very emotional and important service that means a lot to the clients they are serving. There needs to be better oversight on the process- maybe require confirmation that no additional services/memorial items are requested or call instead of email- because this is a mistake and a heartbreak that cannot be fixed or taken back.
