Palmetto Cremation Society - Columbia

I am a little jaded towards the funeral industry and believe that sometimes less than honest companies take advantage of grieving people at some of their most vulnerable moments. This isn't the case with Palmetto Cremation Society. I have worked with Will Widner-Shealy at Palmetto twice and find him to be compassionate, professional, and completely transparent. They don't try to upsell or pressure you and do exactly what they say they are going to do. They do an excellent job starting at planning and all the way through the process keeping you informed and making sure your loved one is treated with nothing but dignity while in their care. I wholeheartedly recommend them and am grateful for how they treated us during a trying season in life.

John and Jeff and staff were absolutely amazing during the process of planning a funeral. They were attentive, professional, answered all my questions. They made this difficult situation as easy and smooth as possible. My family appreciates all they have done.

McAlister Smith was exceptional in handing my father’s cremation arrangements. Everyone was so professional and compassionate from transporting his body to the crematory to meeting with my brother and me to reviewing every detail of the arrangements. Since my father had prepaid/preplanned everything years ago, I didn’t expect to need to meet with anyone, but I’m so glad McAlister Smith was there for my family guiding us through the process. Jessica phoned me and then sent a detailed email explaining what I would need to bring to the appointment with the Funeral Director. Then Abigail met with us to explain the process, complete necessary paperwork, and even helped with the obituary. I received a list of suggested places to call to report the death and I additional correspondence with resources to help with the grieving process. Dealing with the loss of a loved one is never easy, but McAlister Smith made things a whole lot easier.

I've had the fortune of working with Palmetto Cremation Society through two tough family losses in the last few years. I also have experience dealing with other similar businesses in another state. I have to say that both times, Palmetto handled our family's losses with professionalism, dignity, expediency, and zero up-selling or pressure. They provided us with exactly what we asked for, answered all questions, and took care of the details in lock-step with us. I appreciate and highly recommend them.

McAlister-Smith has been absolutely wonderful. They really worked hard to ease our burden during this sad time. They have been so helpful and caring. Parker and Don treated our family with such kindness and patience. They spent so much time with us, guiding us through every step, even offering assistance and answering questions regarding many things that are outside of their standard business. They have gone well above-and-beyond to ensure our family feels cared for. McAlister-Smith has treated us like family and has provided us with exceptional customer service.
