I don’t know where to even start. They were absolutely amazing in every aspect. We were all walking into the unknown as of course we never, any of us thought we would have to endure a life taken like this in our lives. My baby girl Brittany forever 16 now…. passed away in a car accident December 9, 2024. She was the most beautiful soul on this planet and had the brightest spirit and would light up every room she walked in. But this company I cannot thank enough because they really went above and beyond and I just felt they were truly compassionate and felt our pain. Emily Macfarlane made her up for our last viewing as a family exactly as we wanted and even down to painting her nails her favorite nail color. I can’t thank you enough. Robb Ragan “just every bit a blessing” from start to finish to coming late for us letting us weep and stay as long as we needed watching my other daughters at one point in the other room and just down to every single email call text information he was simply a God send and I will forever keep you both in my heart and thank you so much for everything.

When my father passed away, they took delicate care working with my mom, sisters and myself in making all of the arrangements. They tailored the entire process to meet our needs. In addition, they helped us have my father's thumbprint turned in to beautiful memory gifts. Family members are going through a difficult time and they were incredibly sensitive to us during the time.

McAllister Smith Funeral home is an icon in West Cola.! Mom passed at 92 on 11/9/24 and preplanned her funeral here years ago. The staff were exceptional, and made the process so easy for my two sisters and I. We have been here over the years for funerals, and knew Mom loved this place. Our dad had his funeral here 14 yrs ago! She talked about coming during her childhood days. This experience has been so easy because of the Director and his staff.

As a Brookland-Cayce graduate and someone who grew up nearby the old Thompson Funeral Home in West Columbia, I have experienced many funerals at the State Street location. When my dad died, I was worried because Thompson Funeral Home had closed the familiar location. However, when I saw that McAlister-Smith had opened in that stately location, I was relieved because I have been a Charleston resident for more than three decades. I knew that company had many well-run locations in the Lowcountry. I contacted owner Mark Smith who put me in touch with Robb and his West Columbia crew. They helped our family through the sad task of honoring my dad with a military funeral. They made the paperwork easy and attended to every detail professionally. I was delighted to learn that they have even re-hired some of the old staff members from the Thompson Funeral Home days who not only knew my family but even knew my grand-mom. No one likes handling funeral arrangements for a loved one, but the professionals at McAlister-Smith State Street location did my dad and family proud. Thank you for a job well done.

Our mother passed away the evening of November 9. Within a couple hours of her passing, Will called from McAllister Smith. From that point forward we were gently guided through an emotionally charged process. Emily and Robb were so patient, helpful & compassionate. They were with us all the way. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts.
