Rutherford Funeral Homes & Crematories

This has to be one of the worst experiences at a funeral home that I have ever encountered and I have been to many, many funerals. On the evening of the calling hours, we had been waiting about 45 minutes and the line behind us was growing. The funeral director took it upon himself to split the receiving line. This was a terrible idea because now people who had only been waiting perhaps 10-15 minutes were now at the head of the second receiving line, while those of us who had been waiting continued to wait. And then if all of that wasn't bad enough, the lines were now supposed to alternate embracing the grieving family, but instead the grieving family now felt obligated to split up and have a person or persons at the head of each line. The end result? The people we came to consul were now in the other line and we never had the opportunity to get anywhere near them. The next day for the funeral we pulled into the parking lot and were not greeted or given any instructions as to how to park or proceed depending on if we were going to the cemetery afterwards. Everyone just parked wherever they wanted and the end of the service we were told to just turn on your lights and flashers and get in line, except no one was giving any directions on where the line was forming. All in all, I would never send anyone to this funeral home for their sheer lack of preparedness and somewhat rudeness during a very difficult time for so many.

The Powell location website says 5:00 close, but I called to verify a person tells me 4:00. The last time (2yrs ago) I was told someone would be there, they left early for an unexpected training meeting!
