Cremation Society of NM

After the sudden, unexpected death of my mom a couple weeks ago, my dad and I were feeling lost and overwhelmed. I called Cremation Society of NM on a Sunday, explaining that I had no idea where to even start. I was comforted to hear that the funeral director would call me the next day, Monday, and talk to us about our options. Dad and I waited by the phone for the funeral director to call, but they never did. We tried to call back in at the end of the day Monday, and were told to just take care of everything ourselves online. Problem is, the website had different prices listed depending on which part of the website you looked at. We decided to just go into Cremation Society of NM in-person the following day, Tuesday. The doors to the building were locked, and the funeral director seemed confused and annoyed by us being there. We explained that we needed help figuring things out, and were directed again to do it ourselves on the website. Then, we noticed that the reason she was annoyed was probably because we interrupted her game of solitaire that was on her computer. We decided to visit CremateSimply after we left. They offered a place to sit down, filled out the paperwork with us, and provided the same services for $800 less than it would’ve cost at Cremation Society of NM. They responded with empathy, and actually followed through when they promised to call us. Based on our experience, I don’t know why ANYONE would choose Cremation Society of NM.

Excellent experience. The staff there took care of everything for us quickly and efficiently showing great compassion throughout. They were always there for us and went above and beyond to deal with some other outside issues we had being from out of town. They made a painful and confusing time for us so much easier!

I was so thankful to be able to make all of my selections for my mother online without having to discuss everything with a person during the height of my grief. The selection and checkout process was easy and as stress free as possible. A couple days later a very kind and sympathetic woman named Elizabeth reached out to me to explain the paperwork that I would need to fill out in order for them to transport my mother into their custody. I was emailed everything they needed for me to fill out which made things very easy, since I was across the country at the time. Once the rest of the paperwork was signed Elizabeth called me on an almost daily basis to keep me informed about every step of the process from the day they transported my mothers body, to asking me about which personal effects I wanted them to send, informing me of starting the cremation process and even informing when the cremation was complete. I felt well informed and like my mother was in excellent hands. My mothers remains arrived quickly and well packaged along with her personal effects and a hand signed letter. I would recommend Cremation Society of NM to anyone needing services for their deceased loved one.

My son passed away one year ago. The two young ladies that came for him were absolute Angels… They were so kind to us, and treated us with the utmost respect. They took their time with him and were so gentle. They wrapped Neil up in a sheet and blanket, with a pillow under his head. 🥹 They didn’t cover up his head which is exactly the way I wanted it. They asked if we wanted to say goodbye to him, to say a prayer before they took him away, and we did… I had sent a letter a year ago to the Headquarters commending their above and beyond service, including their kind and compassionate handling of my sweet son. At a time of such sorrow, they made it bearable. As they left with him, a feeling of comfort and trust came over me…. Everything was done in a timely manner exactly as they had told us. Thank you Cremation Society for taking such good care of my son, and for the considerate contact of how things were moving along and knowing what to expect. ***On another note, I would like to comment on the poor review written two years ago by some man that I do not know. At that time, it was during Covid and The Cremation Society does not do the actual cremation, Sunset Memorial does. I’m sure that The Cremation Society did everything they could to have things done in a timely manner, but circumstances were making just about everything off during that time. No, I am not an employee, but in all fairness to The Cremation Society I felt it needed to be pointed out. Sorry it was such a difficult time for that man and his family. From the very first call they were very professional and sympathetic concerns and needs. They took care of the arrangements to take possession of our loved ones remains. The next day we met with Lisa who explained everything and was very sympathetic and helpful with our decisions concerning our loved ones cremation. After we were done, true to her word, she called each step of the way as it was completed informing us of the next step and approximate time of completion. Also with each call she asked how we were doing. This was done until all that had been arranged had been completed. We were very pleased with them. I definitely would recommend Cremation Society of NM for your funeral needs.
