Dr. Amanda helped send Kenzie, my 16 year-old Cairn Terrier, over the rainbow. The whole team at Chamisa veterinary clinic was wonderful. We were referred to Chamisa Veterinary clinic by my regular vet, CEDARWOOD Veterinary Clinic. I wanted a quality of life assessment done ASAP & they couldn’t get my sweet little Angel in for a several weeks. Normally, when we have taken Kenzie to any veterinarian, she would get very stressed, but she did not get stressed with Dr. Amanda. Kenzie was very much at peace when we sent her over the rainbow.
Chamisa vet came for an appointment, and I unfortunately didn’t hear the door (have since installed a RING) as I was very ill and asleep; and to add salt to the wound I had the appointment set for the following day, which again was on me. When I realized my error later in the day, I called frantically, and apologizing man times over, as it wasn’t intentional nor done with Makice. I was greeted with “you wasted our staffs time”, and this “was not professional”, “other important clients needed attention” etc. The whole nome which I openly deserved, and still was apologetic and wanted to remedy the error my part; as I, and I alone, was at fault for this complete break down in communication. Well, I even offered to pay for their time in full for each animal they were going to see, seven in total. I even offered to cover the doctors time and gas to cover any and all expenses lost due to my error. The receptionist was very upset, defending the staff and their time, which I understand wholeheartedly; but she continue to berate me to the point of making me feel I committed the ultimate unforgivable sin, and laid out a bunch of demands if the decided to work with me again; and honestly I had offered that myself. Their terms didn’t seem to unreasonable, it was the way I was spoken to, as if I was a teenager being scolded for making a mistake. At this point I was already down and felt awful and this was kicking me while I was down moment. The message had been received and their terms would’ve been met easily if I had been treated with a little more respect. Yes, I messed up, and owned it. I’m not really sure why she continued to berate me, not sure what her point or end goal was. This was done in bad taste and I admittedly defended myself, and no I wasn’t foul by any means, and I did not use harsh language; I just stated how the over the top scolding was a bit much and to please refrain and hopefully get an apology for the what I felt was excessive reminder of the rules and regulations. After I cooled down, I waited several month before I contacted them again; and once again interned any misgivings, or hurt feeling as I admit I was upset and could’ve been kinder; we all aren’t perfect by measure, and I was just defending my honor. Well, my apology was accepted and I was thanked and they really appreciated I reached out; but they refused my business in perpetuity. So, for any business that pushes a customer, customer defends themselves, apologizes and that apology is accepted; and still telling me to go jump in s lake. After that I cannot leave a positive review, as it was far from one; but I did hope for a positive outcome at the very least, not a ban.
I could not be happier with the aquamation service and thoughtful care offered by Chamisa Veterinary Service. After my cat passed away, Bethany went above and beyond, making what was a very challenging time better and meaningful. Deeply grateful for the care and attention I received.
We were recently referred to Chamisa as we have an older dog, Bella, a black lab. We’ve made a couple of appointments but the most impactful was when I had to take her for a vaccine and, while there, Dr. Amanda took a biopsy on a couple of lumps, the most concerning of which was a sore on her back toe. Turned out to be a mast cell tumor, which is a nasty type of cancer. Luckily, we were able to get her in for surgery here in Santa Fe with Chamisa’s help and her pathology report came back clear after the removal, which included one of her toes. It’s a small price to pay for a few more years with our girl (hopefully!). We are forever grateful to Dr. Amanda and Chamisa for acting quickly on this issue. Bella even has a new sister now named Aspen and she is loving the playfulness!
We are travelers so we have a short period of time that we come into town each year. Chamisa always makes sure they get us in for our yearly checkup for 2 dogs. I have had them email records to different vets within the US because of our travels. They are kind, efficient and understanding.
