"Committed to Excellence in Emergency Care" Originally known as the Animal Emergency Clinic, the hospital was founded in 1991 by a group of local veterinarians who understood the need for after hours and weekend emergency care. In 2005, the practice became privately owned and The Veterinary Emergency Center was born, keeping it's doors open 24/7 an
We brought our cat in due to some breathing issues she was having. We were there for almost 12 hours (see picture of check in time and discharge instructions time…I am unfortunately not exaggerating). They were severely understaffed it seems, as from what I could tell there was only a single vet on staff. And while I understand that is not their fault, I wish they provided better communication. After being checked in at about 6:30pm, it took an hour or so to get into triage. After triage we were in the lobby until 11pm, which at that point the girl at the desk offered us a room so our cat could stretch her legs. We did not have any contact again from anyone at all up until 1:30am. The vet tech that came in listened to her breathing and bumped her up the list. The vet did not come in the room until 3:30am. At that time our cat was taken back for testing and diagnostics, which I understand takes awhile. The vet wrapped up with us around 5:30am. I understand this is an emergency vet, and since our cat’s vitals were stable, she kept getting bumped down the list when critical emergencies came in. But hours went by without any contact, recheck, or communication. I am giving 2 stars because the vet, Erica White, was indeed great. But the rest of the experience was not great. They should have more than one vet on staff, and they shouldn’t let pet parents sit there for HOURS without communicating a single word.
Had to bring my dog in due to my vet not following through with putting meds in to the pharmacy and being closed on Sundays for glaucoma in her left eye. The whole staff at VECM was phenomenal today! They listened to what we needed, were super kind and most importantly sent us home with all the meds we needed to get through until we can get into the ophthalmologist. Katie Velez was the veterinarian and I can’t speak highly enough of how helpful she was. I am so grateful that my pet now has some relief. 10/10 would absolutely bring her back here if needed.
Saturday evening caught us by surprise when our 5 year old Wizzy appeared uncomfortable at home and seemed to be in distress. Knowing this day was coming due to a recent diagnosis with lymphoma didn't make it any easier. We called the clinic with advice, and they were quick to pull up his records and tell us they'd be awaiting our arrival. As soon as we walked through the door, they welcomed our family inside with a warm and soft welcome. The technician was quick to recognize Wizzy's distress and take him to a back room to assist with this breathing. The team quickly moved us to a more comfortable and private setting before delivering the sad news we were afraid was coming. The doctor was so caring and compassionate to the pain we were experiencing. They offered every possible way to make our family feel better in making the hard decision and then seeing to our needs all the way through. This afternoon we received a personalized condolence card from the center. While the pain and emotions are still very raw for our family, the gentleness of the team at the Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester has helped tremendously
My dog Lucy wouldn’t have pulled through without these amazing people. Every member of the staff was wonderful, caring, and compassionate. They do their very best in difficult situations. Thank you to the reception team, the nurses, and the doctor who took such great care of Lucy. You truly made my Christmas!
Our beloved Teddy was hit by a vehicle this past Monday 9/29 . My sister and I rushed him here. We arrived with a bit of hope that he was going to make it. The staff rushed to get him out of our hands as soon as we crossed the doors. They tended to his need immediately to provide CPR , another staff took us to a room to fill the necessary paperwork. After a few minutes the Vet gave us the gut wrenching news our family dog didn’t make it. I can’t express enough how appreciative we are for their compassion and the delicacy they showed after we came to terms with what had happened. They let us say goodbye to Teddy and did not rush us out. They guided us to what we could do next. We are very grateful for their professionalism but overall for their compassion and empathy. They were all amazing. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making such a tragic day bearable.
