We have been looking to add another dog to our family for a while now – we fostered through another shelter and looked a couple of other places but never found the right fit. I had such a good experience with my first dog that I adopted from Wayside Waifs over eight years ago that we decided to go back there to find her a sibling. The adoption process was very thorough yet easy and enjoyable. We worked with Ken, who we were so impressed by - his calm and easy going nature, paired with his knowledge and experience, helped us feel confident in our decision. We adopted Lurch (now Bernard) a little over a week ago, and he is fitting in great 😊
Had a great experience going in on Friday to view dogs and adopting Saturday after our older dog met our new addition! The staff at Wayside Waifs has been so accommodating and helpful, providing tons of resources for pet owners and really helps set these dogs up for success. I'll be recommending this shelter to any of my friends looking for a new pet. Attached is our new adoptee, Olive (previously Fantasia) and her big sister Pebbles.
I just adopted 2 black kitties on Oct 1. They're doing fine. We have no idea where the future will take us, but I wanted to talk about the great experience. We showed up on a Wed afternoon while the place had lots of guests - and they were a bit understaffed. And still, they took lots of time to help us, explained we'd have to wait a bit, and then delt with us all in order. "Jake" helped us. He was pleasant, knowledgeable, funny, helpful, and patient - even not complaining when we started adopting one and then also decided on its sibling. Jake was great and should be commended for the great customer service.
6 days ago, we adopted a cat they named "Juanita". She was extremely stressed and we were so worried about how she would be as a pet. I'm here to report that she is soooo loving and cuddly, but it has been many hours of working with her daily, but VERY MUCH worth the work! She is a siamese with the only known history of living with a family who found her as a stray and had her for 5 months before surrendering her. My husband and I are so extremely happy we adopted her. We lost our dog in 2018 and wanted a pet, but also didn't want to get another dog. After 1 of our sons lived with us again for a bit, he brought his cat into our home, who we absolutely fell in love with. We decided to get a cat a few months after that son and his cat moved out. Best decision EVER! I can't thank Wayside Waifs enough for trying to work with her. She was very angry and also stressed the 1st few days, but we really began working with her in her safe room daily. 5 days later, we 1st pet her as she began warming up to us. Yesterday was her 1st purrs, 1st meows and her socially eating with us. She has made some very brave strides and is very fond of my husband who gets in more pets at home while I work away from the home. She is the perfect fit to complete our family! Thank you Lily and all staff 🥰
We had an awesome experience with Wayside W. The place is very clean and you can tell everyone one there loves what they are doing. They were up front with us with all the dogs. Our new member to our family has adjusted really fast. We changed his name to Spike. He has met the all the family including our furry family. He passed with flying colors. I wanted a co companion for my son. He has taken to him very well. We have been on several walks and will continue. Thank you!
