My father passed unexpectedly a year ago. He lived alone and wasn’t found until a few days after passing. When I called the mortuary to arrange cremation after they had picked up his body, the man I was speaking with proceeded to describe my father’s dead body in great detail and commented that he had never seen a body in such terrible condition. As you can imagine, this added so much pain and grief to an already terrible tragedy. I can’t understand why anyone would share those details with someone’s daughter. I didn’t react at the time as I live out of state and had no other options but as time has passed and I have been able to heal, that conversation still plays in my head when I think about my father. When I think of him now, instead of the handsome, playful, wise father I had visited a few months prior, I see the version that was described to me so heartlessly over the phone. I hope they haven’t done this to anyone else in the time since.
Absolutely pathetic. I received the cremated remains of my dad in a cardboard box that had dust coming out of the corners. When the box was opened I found a plastic urn and plastic packing material that was covered in the dust. It was then that I realized the urn was open in the box. The plastic bag inside the urn was twisted closed like a half eaten loaf of bread and placed in the open urn. Remains had come out of the bag, out of the open urn, and coated the inside of the box. A simple twist tie would have prevented this. I have photos, but out of respect for others that might see this I am not posting them on a public forum.
Following the unexpected death of my son in December 2023, I dealt with a woman named Nancy throughout the cremation and return of his ashes to me. She was an exceptionally sweet woman who never acted as though I was a bother when calling with question. Although the entire process went as she had explained it to me and his ashes were received as expected, my only concern is that it has been 2 months since he passed and I still have not received the death certificates, which I need to finalized matters. I was told they were only waiting for the pathologists signature more than a month ago. Aside from that, she made the worst experience of my life bearable.
They worked with me and my family members from out of state to have my mom cremated, and her ashes shipped to me almost three hours away. Everything was packaged well, and the customer service was amazing.
When you loose a love one it’s already a difficult time but everyone at Mississippi Mortuary were so understanding and helpful. I greatly appreciate them.
