Sadly, I had to surrender 1 of my kitties the other day and the staff was very kind and understanding!!!! I was hysterical almost and they kept calm and helped me thru the whole process!!!! They let me have a room where I was able to say my final goodbyes and then they kept reassuring me that she was In good hands!!!!! Photos of sassy pants aka Felicia, who will be up for adoption hopefully soon!!!! She is about 5 years old and very, very talkative, hence the sassy name instead of Felicia!!! She is shy at first but she will come around pretty fast!!! She knows her name as sassy, sassy pants, miss sassy pants!!!
What an experience! We adopted our dog Falcon who we named Harvey last year from The Animal Humane Society and wanted to share what a wonderful experience it was working with AHS. As long time cat people taking the dog leap, we found that AHS provided all the resources we needed to successfully integrate Harvey into our home and life. In the adoption process they shared all the information they had about the dog's history. I was impressed by the behavioral assessments they had done. The information provided helped us begin to plan for integrating Harvey into our home. The biggest key to our success in integrating Harvey into our life was taking advantage of the AHS training school programs. Angi’s words from our first day of Level One “You won’t be feeding him much from a bowl for a while” lived rent free in my head as I made training practice a part of both my morning and evening routine. Noah was there to drill in the fundamentals and make sure that both Harvey and his people had the needed skills before allowing us to advance. He was always willing to chat after class and offer advice and was tremendously helpful in our growth as dog parents. He also predicted how “leave it” can be a life saver. Megan and Denise helped us fine tune and strengthen the positive behaviors (both human and dog). A little more than a year after adopting Harvey he is a calm and loving companion who spends my work day by my side and loves our cats. If you are interested in adopting a new pet but have questions - AHS has resources to help from adoption, behavior and integration, to veterinary and I’m sure so much more that I’m not aware of. We already have an established vet so while I know AHS has veterinary services we did not utilize those services.
We had to put our amazing dog Thora down at the age of 16 and other than the 3 weeks it takes to get an appointment they were super compassionate and they allowed us all the time we needed with her. They also sent us her paw pri ts in the mail! Cost was very reasonable compared to other vets or at home euthanasia.

I volunteer with a rescue that often coordinates with the humane society and everyone i've ever encountered has been so passionate and genuine in what they do. Brought home a new family member a few weeks back and everybody I interacted with made the experience great - they were even willing to drive her halfway so that I didn't have to go as far on a weeknight.
