Animal Rescue League of Boston - Dedham Branch

I found my first cat here in 2022, he was estimated to be 6 years old and very scared after being here for 3 weeks and being freshly neutered, but he did not hiss, scratch, or bite me, just looked at me with his big eyes asking for help. The volunteers we spoke to and the staff that coordinated his adoption were all very kind and knowledgeable and I'm very grateful to them now 3 years later.

A great animal shelter. My girlfriend and I have been looking at adopting a dog and have been visiting every week for two months now. I like that they take donations of even lightly used toys so I can donate some things my I bought for my cat that he didn't end up liking. Animals go quickly (which is a good thing as I'm happy they're getting a home) however that means if you like an animal the pressure is on to decide now if you want to adopt them as they may be adopted by someone else in 10 minutes. No going home and sleeping on that decision. Now the reason for 3 stars instead of 5. Every volunteer I have met has been amazing and several have even remembered me on subsequent visits. However, some of the full time staff need an attitude adjustment. They constantly talk down to me and make me feel as though I am not following a set of unspoken rules the even when I am following all posted directions and under the advice of one of the volunteers. Their tone is hostile to adopters often steering them away from interacting with cats or showing them in a poor light. I get that working a public facing job sucks but treating potential adopters this way only harms the animals chance of getting adopted.

My friend is an animal rescuer and she catches cats off the streets. So she found a cat yesterday. She brought it here and they took it and now they will take care of the cat. My friend does this quite a lot. This place a certs donations for all kinds of animals . I saw then The people here seemed very nice.. if u find an animal or especially a cat bring them here. It's a nice location and very very nice setting. . Sorry no pictures , we came at night

Great place to adopt a pet. They have all kind of animals ranging from dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice to hens, chickens and goats. The staff there are phenomenal, thoughtful. There was an older woman with a cane there today visiting Tim the cat today and the staff was kind enough to bring in a chair for her to sit in. It such small acts of kindness I like to see. I was there and Alicia helped me. She is so very knowledgeable, helpful, kind and patient with us. She made us felt so welcome. Thank you so very much!
