Veterinary Emergency and Referral Center (VERC) is dedicated to providing high-quality veterinary care for the Honolulu, HI community.
My ten year old Pomeranian suddenly could not stand or walk because the left side of his body seemed paralyzed. We first visited our regular vet who told us to watch him and if things got worse, to take him to VERC. We were very concerned so called VERC and were told we should bring our dog down right away. Throughout our experience with VERC, the entire staff was very knowledgeable and extremely caring. They understood that we were emotionally stressed and did everything they could to comfort and reassure us. They took time to thoroughly explain the diagnosis and answered all concerns. Every person we dealt with was very caring and knowledgeable. They allowed us to come down to the facility and spend as much time as we needed with our dog. We were never rushed or treated rudely. In fact, the entire staff was so compassionate and kind. SThe facility is very clean and spacious with many individual rooms for consultations. I am so grateful for my experience with VERC and can confidently recommend VERC to anyone needing emergency services for their pets.
I thought my pup was on the brink of death, muscle spasms, legs paralyzed panting rapidly, among other issues. I barely parked, it was 2 or 3am I ran in the door. Took one look at her without question grabbed my baby and treated her. There wasn’t a you can’t afford treatment. I didn’t have dog insurance. They worked with me, they didn’t stop treating her because I had little money. There are people out there that aren’t trying to take you to the cleaners. They are kind, gentle people that truly just luv animals and just wanna help. ❤️August Lee London aka AUGGI
I am positive that this review will not do this facility justice. I can not express enough how grateful I am for VERC. Not only did they take excellent care of our sweet (but sometimes naughty) Ester but they were kind and caring toward this helicopter dog mom. From the front desk, to the techs, to the doctors...every person was compassionate, patient and informative. They were absolutely incredible. An extra shout out to the tech, Abby, who took the time to understand Ester's previous trauma and figure out the best way to treat her ~ so grateful.
Nobody wants to be in the situation where you need an emergency vet, but we are very blessed to have VERC available when we do. My dog Salvy unfortunately did not survive his emergency but the aloha they showed from the moment I spoke to them on the phone to long after he passed will stay with me forever. I wish I could remember the name of the vet that we saw but I will never forget the compassion and kindness she showed that night. The other staff there were equally as caring. They provided me with my dogs clay paw print and some of his fur to keep with me forever. My dog passed less than a month ago and I received the sweetest condolence card signed by multiple staff members in the mail today. I am truly touched. Mahalo to everyone at VERC for all that you do.
We had high anxiety as we were an emergency referral to VERC for our little Chewbacca who had lost function of his hind legs. Once we got there we were attended to immediately. We felt relieved as everything and everyone acted professionally. Dr. Coleman examined Chewbacca and was very reassuring. An MRI would be done with hope that Chewie would be a good candidate for surgery. After surgery Dr. Williamson, the only pet neurologist on island, informed us that the surgery went well. We were pleased that throughout the whole process, we were kept in the loop on Chewie's status. Chewie is now home and getting better everyday. We are extremely happy.
