I grew up visiting Hawaii Humane Society, so it was really nice to return more recently. I just started working in marketing for a humane society on the mainland, so it was nice to come back and see such incredible operations and good care for their animals. Staff are always super friendly and helpful. They are knowledgeable and passionate about animal welfare, and they answered a lot of our questions. The humane society is very well maintained, and they can always use support, especially for fosters and their couch surfer program. If I lived here FT, I would take home many of their sweet pit bulls (my parents almost did). The cat condos were very nice, and the volunteers were so helpful and sweet. One volunteer is even allergic but still makes time to show the cats love. If you're looking for a pet, definitely consider Hawaii Humane.
This review comes 1 year after adopting my cat, Oregano, from the Hawaiian Humane Society. This is genuinely the best humane society I have ever been to. I believe Oregano is as well adapted to other animals and humans because of the way they have their campus set up. Cats of the same age, or temperament, or health status , etc., are roomed together. Cats who need extra care or who aren’t as friendly are roomed elsewhere, respectively. The process of adoption was so easy, we were able to tour any room as we pleased and the process of adopting him once we were certain was a breeze. Every worker we encountered was well knowledge in the campus and every animal. We live out of state now, and I’m hoping we find a Humane Society that is as good as this one. If you are thinking of adopting- please make this your first stop as this is a business that deserves every penny for how much they care about every single animal in their care!
It takes me a few more minutes before I ever enter the building. I knew the men who worked on the land before the building. Once inside the environment of the plants and trees takes me back. I was hugging trees, just remembering. I'm so sorry for I forgot the names of the staff that helped me ESPECIALLY Tita Girl. I walked and this 1 dog caught my attention so I sat down in front of the cage from a far. Slowly I got closer and I talked with her? Wasn't ready to be adopted yet. Clean living they have for they get to walk around the grounds and feel the calmness of being outside.. I know that I felt it. Before leaving I inquired about the dog who was called " green bean " something close to that lol. Female staff " Tita Girl" Great gal and a Very smart woman. She educated me of the why, how, and the importance of I knowing the reason why I couldn't walk the dog. Health reasons for the dog to stay safe. She included the health risks for me! Me. I have to get her name because You are going to want to meet her, polished young lady. Upon leaving I teared up I'm hoping to see if puppy dog is still there. Healing moment.
The people who work here truly care about the animals, and that compassion is clear in everything they do. They handle people who are going through emotional moments with patience, kindness, and understanding, while still looking out for both you and the animals at the end of the day. Even in difficult situations, they never lose sight of their mission making sure every animal is cared for, protected, and loved. To every staff member and volunteer: thank you for the hearts you bring into this work every day. Your compassion, strength, and dedication do not go unnoticed. You are truly doing God’s work, and you make a real difference in more lives than you know!!
They should be called INhumane society. They picked up my beautiful redness xl bully and murdered him the same day. At least a handful of people were calling begging for his mercy.....no calls were returned until the next day.....only to be told he was euthanized the day before....hours after being taken from me. There is so much more to what led to this but the bottom line is that dog was part of a loving family ......we called him our son. He was the most loving animal I ever had. He made a couple mistakes by reacting to situations. He deserved, at the least, an investigation to find out if he was being fairly sentenced......because he such a good, loving and beautiful pet. Every single day I relive December 14, 2024. Every single day. The hurt never stops. What that man did, the one that took him from me, is so wrong. My dog was killed with no investigation because he was a pit bull. That is so wrong. I want justice for Migo. This is not over.
