Welcome to Paw Haven in New Haven, Ct New Havens premier pet care facility offering dog daycare, puppy daycare, dog boarding, cat boarding, and grooming.
I want to start this out by saying I’ve brought both of my dogs to PH since the fall of 2022. I’ve recommended and sent so many people to Paw Haven. I let the first incident go because we had such a great experience, until this summer. Our dogs (that are never separated) were separated overnight into 2 kennels. Previously, they had always stayed in the same one. I talked to them about it and was told it wouldn’t happen again. BUT I boarded them this last week, and all I have good to say is the front desk staff is as sweet as they can be. The manager, on the other hand? He doesn’t follow up or return phone calls, even though he says he will. It all started off when I checked the cameras on Monday night, and the staff had only put one bed in the room. Mind you, we are paying $130 a night for this “luxury” kennel. My 11-year-old dog laid on the concrete to sleep. I was pissed, but I decided to let it go. Stuff happens, I get that. When I picked the dogs up on Wednesday at 2:06pm. My bill was over $100 than what was estimated. I asked for a breakdown and was told the extra cost was because I dropped them off before 11 a.m. and picked them up after 2 p.m. I questioned the policy because I had never heard this before. It literally said on Paw Haven’s website that THEY PREFER FOR YOU TO DROP YOUR DOGS OFF BETWEEN 7-11 (see attached pics). Also, that $50 surcharge was because I was 6 minutes late, 2:06. I called the next day to speak to the manager so they could talk me through this because I honestly didn’t understand why it was so expensive. The manager proceeded to tell me that the website was wrong and had been OOD for a year. So, false advertisement? He said he would look at my account, “look to see what the website really says,” and get back with me by the next day. Summary is I paid $405 for my dogs to be boarded here for 53 hours. I won’t be back. I hope the $100 was worth it. They’ve already changed the policy online since I brought this to their attention, but haven’t reached out to resolve the issue. Update: it’s been almost 2 weeks and haven’t heard back from them still.
I finally put my dogs into overnight boarding. The first night they were a little freaked out because they've never been away from me. I could see them barking on the live video. Second and third time they did so much better & ate their meals. I like knowing I can take trips and they have a place where they will be safe and have social time. My toy poodles have been in daycare for 3 half-day sessions, and it's been really good. Very nice, friendly staff. Live videos showing the different playrooms, both inside & out. Easy drop off & pickup. Your first partial day, the Interview, is free to see how your dog(s) get along with staff and other dogs with similar temperments. (Not all places do that.) You can tour the entire facility beforehand; I did that twice. The videos are like watching Pac-Man being played by dogs. Cracks me up (Screeshots off my laptop showing the Chill Room & Small Dog Playoom. Small dogs mixed w/ friendly dogs, different sizes)
We love Paw Haven! I've been taking my pup here for over a year and I'm continuously impressed. The kind staff clearly care about all the pups and are looking out for them. Benny goes for camp a couple of days and week and I've boarded him on several occasions. He loves it and I can't imagine taking him anywhere else. They have an app to use for bookings and are overall great at communicating. 10/10 recommend!
I want to start by saying that we have loved Paw Haven the last few years and up until recently our pup seemed very well cared for and the staff had been great. Over the last couple weeks we have noticed a drastic change in service and care. Our dog has come home smelly which was never a thing before. When we have dropped off the last few times the lobby has smelled and there was a spot of what I am assuming to be urine on the lobby floor and several staff members just sitting around talking mid morning. Now to add to my concern, my dog has started coughing yesterday and I am assuming this to be kennel cough which she's never had before. I get that things can happen but we can't help but to wonder if this is all related. She only goes to Paw Haven and otherwise has no interactions with dogs. My neighbors also have their dogs attending Paw Haven and mentioned similar feelings. I asked to speak to the manager we have always had such a great relationship with to see if he could let us know what was going on and we were told he left the business a couple weeks ago(coincidence?). I didn't want to give a 1 star because previously this place was great but it seems like the standards also have departed. I saw the sign about reviews and here I am hoping this reaches ownership before this place falls further away from the path as its always been so great.
We’re new to puppy daycare, and Paw Haven made our first experience amazing! The staff was friendly, professional, and clearly love what they do. Our German Shepherd puppy, Maximus, came home happy and tired from all the fun and socializing. We’re so glad to have found a place we can trust—definitely coming back!
