Heartstrings Pet Hospice, In-Home Euthanasia & Aftercare - Denver

We recently had to make the difficult decision of saying goodbye to our 14 year old Black Lab but we were so fortunate to have Dr. Sprague from Heartstrings come to our house and help us during our sorrowful goodbye. She was kind, sweet and comforting and she made sure we knew what to expect with each step. The understanding, patience and respect for our grief will never be forgotten. With as difficult of a decision this was, having such wonderful support from Heartstrings and Dr. Sprague, gave us the comfort we needed to say goodbye to our beloved Boone ❤️ And we will always be grateful! The time had come to say goodbye to our sweet boy, Kane. Making that gut-wrenching call to Heartstrings was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but from the very first conversation their compassion was evident. I don’t remember the name of the person I spoke with, but they were incredibly kind and patient. I was a complete mess and had to pause just to gather myself, yet they gave me all the information I needed about their care, options, and process without ever making me feel rushed. I scheduled an in-home service for the following day and, for selfish reasons, booked the very last appointment so I could have a little more time with Kane. On the day of, Dr. Katie reached out to let me know she could arrive earlier than expected. I explained that I still needed more time, and she was so understanding. When she did arrive, her gentle demeanor immediately put us at ease. She walked us through the process, gave us space, and patiently waited for our cue when we were ready to move forward. I couldn’t be more grateful that we chose an in-home service, and that we chose Heartstrings. We’ve said goodbye to pets before, but this experience was different. Being able to keep Kane in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by love, brought us peace during such a painful moment. Because of this, our entire family was able to come together to be with him and us. While it was a bit more expensive than other options, it was worth every penny for the care, dignity, and love Kane received in his final moments. To the entire Heartstrings team and especially Dr. Katie, thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping us through one of the hardest goodbyes.

A class act from start to finish. I had tried another pet euthanasia service, and where they failed me with booking and lack of compassion, Heartstrings excelled. The coordinator was warm and understanding, and they were able to help us say goodbye to our beloved Nola same-day so she wouldn't have to be in pain. Dr. Katie, as other reviewers mentioned, has a wonderful bedside manner and is calm, respectful, and everything she said was so appropriate for the occasion. This was our first in-home euthanasia, and although none are easy, it was nice to have our pet be as comfortable as possible. We'll miss Nola deeply, but are so grateful to have had a compassionate and personal experience for one of the most difficult times in a pet owner's life. Dr. Knepler helped our little friend Carter transition within our home. She made the process as compassionate and as considerate as possible. She walked us through what to expect, at no point did we feel rushed, and overall it was relieving to see Carter pass on with dignity and comfort watching his father's eyes. This was a same day appointment, we were worried with the way his breathing was labored that if we couldn't assist him, he wouldn't have made it till morning. I want to sincerely thank Heartstrings Pet Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to our family. Dr. Katie was incredibly professional, kind, and understanding as she helped us through the difficult process of saying goodbye to our beloved Lewy, our 13-year-old Shitpoo. Being able to give Lewy his final rest at home, surrounded by love, brought us peace of mind that we could never have found in a cold veterinary hospital room.
