I called with questions; already emotional, not being ugly, not being abusive or abrasive, already in tears. but the person who answered the phone at about 2 PM on December 26, 2025 was hateful and abrasive and saying I was yelling at her when I was just trying to get my point across and she kept interrupting me. I don’t know if I was interrupting her painting, her nails or whatever she might’ve been doing but this person does not have any business dealing with bereaved human beings.
Disgusted with their apathetic treatment of our situation as they came to pick up my loved one at the hospital. They came to pick up at the hospital and we didn’t have the paperwork ready just yet, so the man coming to pick up became worked up and went to the hospital staff saying “there are extra charges for this kind of thing.” And also went on to say “we’re having a busy morning so don’t keep calling.” The lack of tact left a bad taste as my loved one had just passed away only a couple hours before Janssen’s arrived to pick up. Plus, when it came to being present at the cremation of my loved one, they wanted $800 for our 4 person family to be present!
Think about all of the traits you would want for the people who you have chosen to take final care of your loved one. Our recent experience with Janssen's in the valley proved to us that a place with those traits does exist. The director, Sam, was impeccable in every regard. Calm, caring and professional. He addressed all of our questions, answered his phone every single time I called and delivered on every promise. The service was perfect. His recommendation for a person to officiate turned out to be a marvelous choice. We had expected about 50 folks to attend the service and when 200 showed up we were floored - but Sam wasn't. He made things happen. Brought in extra chairs, printed up more memorial folders, all the while keeping things on track. So, to Sam and the rest of the staff at Janssen's please accept our heart-felt thanks for the exemplary job you did. You folks made a very difficult day one that we will hold in our memories forever.
I can't say enough about the compassion and personal attention that we received from the Director, Sam Carranza! He explained the process and made sure that the family understood all of the options. He was never pushy in regards to any of the options, which some funeral homes tend to be. Sam took it upon himself to ensure that the family had the best experience possible under the toughest situation ever. He truly cares!! Thank you Sam!
I just met at Janssen’s Funeral Home with a widow who is a member of my church family. Doug, from Janssen’s, was so friendly and professional and also gave a 5% discount because the church was involved with location of service and making of bulletins. The deceased was also a veteran and Doug made sure the widow knew all the benefits of that. Thank you Janssen’s for helping in this time of need!!
