Alaska SPCA Clinic (Spenard location) and Adoption Center (Petersburg location) is a well-reviewed pet aftercare provider dedicated to serving families in Anchorage, AK. Known for their caring, professional, highly recommended approach to pet loss care, they offer private cremation services, communal cremation options. As one family shared: "I want people to know to expect unexpected charges here.
I want people to know to expect unexpected charges here. I agreed to a vaccine bundle, but I was not clearly told it would be $90, and when I asked for clarification or paperwork, it wasn’t shown to me. What really upset me was how the situation was handled when picking up my cat after her surgery. Instead of explaining the charges calmly, I was told things like “it’s $20 for every additional 5 minutes we have to keep her.” That felt extremely intimidating, especially right after my pet came out of surgery. They advertise having payment plans and options, but in the moment I felt pressured and cornered instead of supported. I recommend anyone using their services bring at least an extra $200 just in case, because the communication around pricing did not feel transparent. I’m posting this so other pet owners know what to expect and can avoid the same stress. Especially when they said I wouldn't receive my cat back until I paid nearly immidetly after begining the conversation about payment.
They took great care of our cat Sir Otin. Pricing is very budget friendly, as well as you can apply and use a Friend's of Pets discount coupon.
Super nice and professional. Easy check in process. Customers need to pick up their pets poop. Sadly there are several piles near by. You can get a poo bag inside the spca FREE! Bonus, gently used pet supply store next door with great prices.
Very nice workers , my puppy love them and i see that they care
I’m very grateful for the price and quality of the Alaska SPCA spay service. My kitty got spayed on 1/13 and she is recovering nicely. I was very lucky to have gotten a fast appointment. Once I filled out the spay request online, I received a call the next day and had a surgery appointment within 2 days. I dropped my kitty off for surgery at 7am and didn’t receive a call to pick her up until around 4:30 pm. When I received the call, the front desk lady went through discharge instructions briefly over the phone. When I arrived at the clinic, I was expecting to have the vet or a vet tech speak to me about the post-op recovery process, but this did not happen. I was extremely anxious about the process, since this is the first time I’ve ever had to get a pet fixed. I had quite a bit of questions and it would have been nice to at least speak to someone about the recovery process so that I could have felt reassured and confident about caring for my pet post-op. They do, however, allow you to call or email them with any questions you may have. Also, they do not give you pain medicine to take home for recovery. This was also a surprise to me as I was thought it was the norm to be given pain medication. Thankfully, my cat has shown no signs of being in pain.
